As the demand for AMI solutions grows throughout the electric power industry worldwide, China seems to be taking a slightly more cautious approach than many in North America - who have been largely driven by the powerful combination of compelling economics and government stimulus funding - and starting with a clear strategy that deals with standardizing security and interoperability testing before approving massive installations that may cause significant issues down the road. This has long been our position and message to the industrial cyber security community and we are glad to see China weighing-in with what we consider to be an extremely intelligent, and what will likely be more responsible, approach.
Mr. Williams has been selected as the only cyber security subject matter expert from North America to share his insight, experience and recommendations with key Chinese government officials and power industry stakeholders.
