Local Industrial Security Firm lifts the veil of secrecy surrounding its SCADA Testing Platform “Achilles”

VANCOUVER, BC January 08, 2007 – Wurldtech Security, an industrial cyber security firm located in Yaletown, announced today the beta release of their highly anticipated industrial  software tool “Achilles” that has been under development in relative secrecy for the past 2 years. “The nature of the industrial environment in which our software operates and the level of security our clients expect, has prompted us to take extraordinary precautions with the information we release publicly about the Achilles project.” says Tyler Williams, CEO

The Achilles program was developed to address a critical need facing industrial control system manufacturers and end-users: to protect their devices and networks from cyber attacks that can result in major disruptions to our national infrastructures and financial losses in the millions from loss of productivity.

Achilles is specifically designed to test control devices for vulnerabilities prior to being deployed on plant floors and mission critical industries such as electricity generation and distribution, oil production and refinement, transportation, manufacturing and medical systems.

According to CTO Nate Kube, “The cyber security team at Wurldtech has successfully developed, tested and released the most comprehensive and innovative SCADA vulnerability testing tool on the market. We intend to release it to select Vendors over the next 6 months and, with the help of Wurldtech Research, set the international standard for industrial control system security”.

The Achilles product is clearly making an impression with some of the largest companies in the world waiting in queue for the product to officially hit the market and current clients are already speaking its praise. “The systems that perform well in these {Achilles} tests by are recognized worldwide by industrial device manufactures as being secure against cyber attacks” says Yokogawa’s Toshiko Kobayashi.

Wurldtech Security plans to launch the Achilles product internationally in the spring of 2007 and expects to open offices in Europe and Asia to service the global marketplace later in the year.
